The Friends of the Library is a new group that formed in the fall of 2009. The group's goals are to increase public support of the library through advocacy, to increase the use of the library by the community, and to raise funds to support the growth of the library.
Membership in the Friends of Sodus Township Library is open to anyone with an interest in growing the library. For more information and the date of the next Friends meeting, contact the library.
Did you know that Michigan tax codes offer a tax credit for charitable contributions made to public libraries? If you donate to a public library you can get half your donation back through a tax credit that reduces the amount you would owe on your Michigan income tax return. The tax credit allows for up to 50% of a $200 donation ($100) for an individual or 50% of a $400 donation ($200) for a married couple filing jointly. Smaller amounts are also very welcome and are subject to the same credit.
People who itemize on their federal tax form may also be eligible for a tax deduction on their federal return.
